QUOTE:
Having a competitive budget is just as important as being competitive athletes.

In order to be on par with other teams we have to be able to raise money and join forces with corporate sponsors.  As noted in the budget section of the web page, the program to date has been funded by corporate sponsors, private donations, family and government.

Some corporate sponsors have been Newfoundland Screech Rum, Oceanex, Tiller Engineering, Bill Matthews Volkswagon Audi, Lincoln Promotions, as well as a substantial private donation from very talented local artist and renowned sailor, Christopher Pratt.

Due to the 49er’s high speeds and extreme nature, it is by far the most watched Olympic Sailing Class, and media coverage at events is always increasing.

Sailing is a national sport in most of the countries that host the World Cup events, which attract hundreds of thousands of spectators and are often paired with huge festivals.

Logos on our sails can be up to 12 feet tall and we offer year round and worldwide exposure in the most eco-friendly sport on the planet.  We have a variety of sponsorship packages that can be tailored to suit your company.

This year the team will be racing and training here in Newfoundland, Miami, Kingston-Ontario, Weymouth-England, Denmark, France and New York.

For private donations, NL for Gold is registered with the National Sport Trust Fund and therefore can issue tax receipts.
