Cost of Higher Education in the USA vs Scandinavian countries

I enjoy reading - "A Journal of Southern Culture & Politics".
The following drawings draw attention to the issue re why higher education is so expensive in the USA whereas the Scandinavian countries somehow manage to tax their citizens enough to fund education for their people.

Wonders WTF is wrong with Americans

Free education reduces social inequality and benefits both individuals and society in the long run.
An educated population equals a strong, stable state, ready for the future.
So the investment is well worth it.
